We were amongst the last to board the plane at Glasgow and as we walked on I noticed business and first class were empty. I did my best to look tall (easy) and honest (not as easy). It must have worked because the stewardess told me to take a seat up front. Stupidly I told them I was with Jacqui so they upgraded her too.

It's the first time I have ever been upgraded. It was lovely. Huge seats, touch screen monitors, leg room to die for. Shame it was only a 2.5hr flight.

We'd booked economy from Washington to Roma via Frankfurt. Every once in awhile, just because we're loyal United Airlines customers, we get an upgrade. In a Business Class cabin filled with surly business travelers, we were a celebratory couple, just happy to have the luxury beyond what we'd expected.
